Chris Topple

My passion for music and drums started in the late sixties having seen a friend playing the drums. My incessant tapping and hinting finally paid off and I was lucky enough to unwrap my first drumkit that Christmas. Immediately I began listening to, watching and trying to copy all the drummers of the day on “Top Of The Pops” etc. and on all the latest records. No dvd or video then!
I ltaught myself to play by playing along to pop, rock and jazz records, but played my first gig aged sixteen backing my school choir in St Georges Chapel at Windsor Castle to a large audience!
By the mid seventies I was playing in “Flaxton” a successful function band gigging all over the South East and in the London hotels.
I have rarely put down the sticks since and have been gigging regularly playing  rock, r n b, country and jazz  with many South East based bands and artists including spells with “Blind Panic”, “Replay “, “The Usual Suspects” and “Funktion”.
In more recent years  I became a dedicated student of drumming, studying privately and at the Guildford ACM.  I am an approved teacher of the Drumsense learning programme.
I really enjoy passing on this knowledge together with the benefit of my forty plus years playing experience to students of all ages and levels both privately and in schools – see my website all about drums
